Since switching over to using a customized image it has helped our turnaround on getting machines out the door compared to cleaning up a factory install of windows, plus keeps everything consistent from one machine to the next. We keep our image in a VM for now so we just update it every few months, and keep it ready to go on our internal network using WDS, and made a portable media on a usb drive using MDT. We also have a number of third party applications like Adobe Reader and Chrome preinstalled and configured accordingly for default apps. Not only does it clean off some of the garbage, including the Candy Crush apps and such from Microsoft, but it also gives us a customized start menu and taskbar that are consistent across all user profiles. We have a relatively customized Windows 10 image that goes on every machine before it goes out the door. That and complex repairs and data recovery is where the money is and will be for the forseeable future with consumers. You might think we are doing it too cheap, but we want people to not even think of walking to the competitor and instead sell them on our managed antivirus and support programs for recurring fees. Whenever we find non-genuine or free software the client gets a call to get them onto genuine Office and AV-software.ĩ0% is scripted in-house and takes 20 minutes of work for an intern.
Migration from one e-mail program to another costs €35,- extra. Option two (€60,-): All of the above + transfer of wifi-settings, e-mailaccount setup + contacts and mailfolder migration, transfer of genuine and supported Office and AV installations, and data transfer from user folders.
Option one (€35,-): Clean install, install all major OS updates, and install common software. We pre-configure most of the notebooks we sell to consumers.
